As the company has grown over the past several years, we felt it was necessary to "trademark" the brand name of our products. We learned that another company owned the trademark to "The Peanut Patch" - so WE decided to change our brand name to protect the company's future. For over 2 years, we searched and agonized over the perfect name and learned just how difficult and complex the trademarking process is. We were advised that if we never wanted to go through this process again - it would be best to "make-up" a name - just like Nike and Exxon. So we created a word/name that was comprised of letters from the last names of the 3 families that operate the business: Alice & Paul ShafFER + Judy & Bob RIDdick + Jane & Ted FrIES - FERIDIES® (pronounced fur-RID-eez). It's unique - in that no other company has this name and it has special meaning to us. Judy and Bob Riddick started the company in 1973 and today their 2 daughters Jane and Alice - along with their husbands Ted and Paul help operate the company. Our gift shop located in Courtland, VA retains the name The Peanut Patch - because YES - we love that name, too!

Yes! We ship worldwide! International Orders can be shipped using the following services: USPS Priority Mail International, UPS Standard to Canada, UPS Worldwide Expedited or UPS Worldwide Express. Our website does not accept International Shipping Addresses since we calculate the shipping charges using the weight of the package and the destination country. Orders being shipped to military addresses (i.e., APO or FPO), will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail and can be placed on the website and by phone, fax or mail.

An E-Certificate is just like a gift certificate, but instead of being mailed via USPS, it is e-mailed directly to your gift recipient with your gift message, a link to the FERIDIES® website and directions on how to redeem. No shipping charges and no delivery timeframe - the gift is instantly received. E-Certficates must be redeemed on the website.
